Who's selling Windows XP in July? | Defensive Computing - CNET Blogs

By July 1st, Dell, Lenovo, HP and all the other big computer manufacturers will no longer be allowed to sell new computers with Windows XP pre-installed. So says Microsoft. Microsoft also dictated to retailers that, come July, there will be no more shrink-wrapped boxes of Windows XP on their store shelves.

But, many of us prefer XP over the Microsoft-mandated Vista. To borrow from Star Trek, some of us don't want to be assimilated (sorry, couldn't resist). What are we to do this summer?

Whois Source: whois and domain name lookup

This is possibly the most complete Web-based whois site I've ever seen. The detail about the requested Web site includes detailed ownership information, link analysis, search engine criteria, and even a thumbnail of the site.

"Digg" what now???

It took me a while, but I finally discovered Digg, a place for people to discover, share and vote on ("digg") content from anywhere on the Web. All it takes for someone to allow voting on a Web site, post or blog is to put:

-- a tiny piece of JavaScript -- somewhere on your page. Theoretically, by clicking the "digg it" link, your page will be "dugg" by the person viewing the article (assuming he or she has a Digg account).

Pretty cool.

Hooked on Skype!

I wandered into Skype (Voice over IP, aka. VoIP) and am hooked. I even picked up a Plantronics USB headset. It's very cool, and seems to work really well. SkypeIn allows PSTN phones to call my PC and SkypeOut allows me to call PSTN phones from my PC.

ArtOfGold really knows how to capture not only a moment in time, but the passion and emotion. I highly recommend viewing the art exhibit that is ArtOfGold's flickr gallery.

BlogThis!

ViperGeek's Random Ramblings

This is simply a test of BlogSpot's "BlogThis!" icon. If this works, I'll have a new entry in my blog. If it doesn't, then the Internet may just implode in upon itself. Let's see what happens!
